1/2 days before embarkation - Skagastrond or Siglufjörður.
Flight to Reykjavik
First or second day we will visit the center of Island. During the way we will see Kerið, Stokkur Gejser, Gullfoss Waterfall. We drive through the middle of Icelandand and reach Skagastrond or Siglufjörður.
Skagastrond / Siglufjörður. DAY 1 Embarkation
Arrival, provisioning, transfer to the Yacht - Embarkation.
Glacier Drangajokull DAY 2 8h, 60Mm
The glacier can be reached from the east - it is a more difficult and demanding road. If the weather permitt, we'll get here after rounding the Horn! Then the approach will be easy but not so epic. The weather will decide which route we choose! This is the only glacier in the Westfjords, the only one in Iceland that lies below 1000M above sea level and the only one that does not retreat
Hornstrandir DAY 3 3h, 15Mm
Sailing to the Horn! This time it is about the northern tip of the Westfjords.
Trekking up should be easy and pleasant -
as long as we manage to get off the pontoon calmly;)
Isafjordur DAY 4 10h, 50Mm
This is the part of Iceland that most resembles Spitsbergen - depending on your wish, we can stay here longer or explore the nearby fjords. Literally everywhere we can plan trekking ;-)
Suðureyri- Flateyri- Talknafjordur DAY 5-7 Suðureyri- Flateyri- Talknafjordur. Short sailing and a lot of trekking - especially for mountain lovers - trekking from Suðureyri to Lateyri instead of sailing ;-) On the way to Talknafjordur we can also stop in Thingeyri.
Flatey DAY 8 80Mm 15h
Sailing to the tiny island Flatey. This is a rarely visited piece of Iceland. The island is famous for its untouched peace and the prevailing sounds are mostly birds.
A few people realize that there are often whales hiding somewhere near in the ocean ;-)
Grundarfjörður/ Olafsvik DAY 9 and DAY 10
500Mm 5 days
Disembarkation
Last but not the least - attraction at the very end - Kirkjufell mountain is located right next to the port. Which is more associated with the Game of Thrones series. For us, it's less than a 5-kilometre run, which is marked with a high level of difficulty - the top is reached using ropes -
It's worth it!
We have planned the port of Olafsvik for a reserve sailing day!
DAY 11 Disembarkation and sightseeing by land
