Adventure offered by Domingo

Contact
Departure from the Masnou port, heading to Marseille in the south of France, where you will stop to fill up water, fuel and food and be able to visit the city and of course, to the beautiful city and port seen in so many movies. We will try to visit the If Castle.

The plan is to sail with a sextant, stopwatch and nautical almanac to improve knowledge in astronomical navigation and to be able to guide us through the stars, as they did in the past and as captains must be able to control and manage with skill.

After Marseille, we will head to Corsica, to get closer to our destination, which is the Strait of Bonifacio, a beautiful and charming place that unfortunately is crowded in summer.

We will visit the city and also the nearby coves in Corsica and Sardinia. After about 4 days there, we will return to the south of France to be able to return, whenever the Gulf of Leon allows it. Therefore, the return date has to be flexible for one or two days, and then the return to the base port will be about 11 or 12 days after the day of shipment.

It is very likely that we will do between 800 and 1000 nautical miles. On this trip we will have practiced with different sextants on board and all of us must have ended up being dexterous in astronomical navigation.

There will be workshops on board where the history of navigation, cartographies and an endless number of topics will be explained so that we all leave the journey being much more expert in these subjects.

It is mainly recommended for skippers and yacht captains who want to continue training, and also for lovers of sailing and adventure who want to start out in astronomical navigation or simply in deep-sea sailing.

It's not a journey for beginners.

  • Plan
We met on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. to introduce ourselves, get settled in the sailboat, do safety briefings and finalize details. Afterwards, we will go to do the joint shopping and the stowage on board among the entire crew. The plan is to set sail that same afternoon when we are ready and the ship is well equipped with water, food and fuel. We will head to Marseille in the south of France, with 187 nautical miles to get there.

Monday at dawn will be the arrival in Marseille, we will request a mooring to rest and supply ourselves with more water, food and fuel, whenever necessary.

On Tuesday, at first light of day, we will head to the island of Corsica, heading south, the Strait of Bonifacio. We will need to travel approximately 162 miles to reach our destination, where we will request a mooring again to be able to rest and supply the necessary supplies. Surely we will arrive early Thursday, it will always depend on the wind and the help it provides us.

Between Thursday and Saturday, we will dedicate our days to exploring coves and places that are worth visiting, that there are many.

On Sunday afternoon, if the weather is favorable, we will head to Barcelona, trying to “afford” the south of France.

We will probably arrive on Thursday afternoon at the Masnou port.

Note: It will always depend on the weather, but we will try to reach Bonifacio.

Other information
All crew members are welcome, even if they do not know the language spoken on board (spanish)

We will make a fund of 350 euros for meals on board, fuel and moorings in port, if there is no need to add more, it will be calculated during the voyage, if it is necessary to put something else, it would be seen during the stopover.

Meet Domingo, the skipper

Hello, I am Domingo, PPER or professional captain, I have been sailing for many years, I have owned several sailboats, and I also teach nautical classes. This past summer I have worked with a Bali 40 catamaran, but what I like most is sailing with sailboats and sailing along the Catalan coast or to the Balearic Islands.

Domingo is friendly, but the journey was lacking. We miss the functions of an ordinary cook. The trip was offered with this included and his tasks, which were taken over by the boss, were limited to defrosting 4 meals (he did not prepare breakfast or dinner). Tb, deficiencies with respect to the knowledge of the coves.

I thank you for your participation in the trip and I regret the bad weather we had and to say that on outings of this type, people who have already done several take it for granted the collaboration of all the participants in the tasks of the ship.

This may not be the type of output for your profile.

The experience in Menorca was nice and the captain was close, although the cleanliness was a point to improve: bathrooms, kitchen and living room were barely serviced, and one day flies even appeared for not picking up food. It would also be good to organize meals better and to be updated in the choice of coves.

Sailing from Barcelona to Menorca with a professional like Domingo is something I would recommend to anyone who loves the sea. The coves of Menorca are a true paradise and even more views from this trip. All a 10
