HIGHLAND AND COASTAL NAVIGATION TRIP AND PRACTICES IN LARGE SAILBOAT: CORSICA-SARDINIA-CANNES from NICE +425MN

Would you like to gain experience and perfect your sailing technique? Do you want to increase your confidence and skill as a skipper or captain? Are you preparing to practice professionally? Do you need to prove days and miles of navigation? Or do you simply want to live a great experience?

We propose a program where you will learn to navigate more safely and effectively on a voyage of more than 425mn, assuming the role of skipper and crew member in different situations and real wind and sea conditions. Whether you are already a skipper, captain or PPER or you would like to become one, or you simply want to enjoy the sea and our coasts, this voyage is for you. Board a modern Dufourt 525 Grand Large. A large sailboat, ideal for learning and enjoying with great safety and comfort.

We will depart from the beautiful city of Nice, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which you may enjoy arriving a day early. We will sail on a spectacular journey from here, through the Northwest of Corsica and the Northeast of Sardinia. We will discover coves of white sand and turquoise waters, incredible rock formations, virgin islands, charming ports and anchorages, large cliffs, spectacular bays and ancient towns. We will also cross the mythical Bonifacio Strait in both directions, a true experience for sailors, and we will moor in its splendid port to get to know the fortress city and enjoy its particular atmosphere that brings together sailors from all over the world every year. We will discover the La Maddalena Archipelago, a true paradise of virgin islands, already in Sardinia. And back, another great crossing from the Gulf of Valinco to our destination in the lively city of Cannes, recommended to enjoy on your own if you can stay one more day.

It includes different workshops and practices for those who have learning objectives:

• Government and safety on the sailboat (The boat, the skipper and his crew, the steering position, instrumentation, RIPA, POB, EPIRB, abandonment, logbook, positioning on the chart, control and tasks on board...)

• Night navigation (guards, lights, AIS, Radar...)

• Sailing navigation (sails, controls, maneuvers, headings, crewed and solo trimming...)

• High altitude navigation (planning, meteorology, route, management...)

• Coastal navigation (planning, meteorology, route, dangers, marks and beacons, delays, lines, oppositions, bearings, anchoring, moorings in port and buoy)

• Basic caballería and much more.

BOARDING: 3:00 p.m. | Port of Nice (Train or taxi from the airport 8Km away).

DISEMBARKING: 3:00 p.m. | Port of Cannes (Train or taxi to the airport 6.3 km away).

1ST RAIL: NICE-NORTHWEST COAST OF CORSICA (30 NM)

Welcome and boarding. The boat is already stowed and prepared to sail, so after getting settled, we will get to know the sailboat and we will have a first STEERING, SAFETY AND NAVIGATION WORKSHOP, delving into the aspects related to steering and safety, both in daytime and nighttime navigation.

Once these objectives have been achieved, we will have a second HIGH HIGH NAVIGATION WORKSHOP, where we will analyze the meteorology, plan the route and organize the watches and tasks on board. And finally we will become practically familiar with the maneuver of the boat, under sail and motor. And already well prepared, around 6:00 p.m. we will begin our journey, beginning with the navigation watches in turns, positioning ourselves on the chart and reviewing the indicators and safety elements every 2 hours.

    2nd SOURCE: NICE-NORTHWEST COAST OF CORSICA-GIROLATA (80 NM)

During this voyage we will have a SAILING NAVIGATION WORKSHOP to obtain the best performance from the sailboat throughout our journey. Our course will be towards the Scandole Nature Reserve (146º) - We will arrive early in the afternoon and sail towards the South, delighting in its abrupt and steep coast, entering the Gulf of Girolata, where we will anchor to spend the afternoon and our first night. under the stars.

Today we will enjoy a coastal navigation that will take us to discover the beautiful beaches of Piana and a whole series of coves that we will pass on the port side. We will anchor in one of them to refresh ourselves and continue our route towards Ajaccio, capital of Corsica, where Napoleon was born in 1769. Towards the middle of the afternoon we will anchor in Saint-François, very close to the port and the city center, which will allow us to a walk in this beautiful town. During this voyage we will have a new COASTAL NAVIGATION WORKSHOP, placing ourselves practically on the chart using the bearing compass, which we will systematically apply until our final port of arrival.

    4TH RAIL: AJACIO-NORTHWEST COAST OF CORSICA-FURNELLU (39 NM)

We will continue our navigation pointing our bow towards Cabo di Muru (210º). Once folded, we will stop in the shelter of Cala d'Orzu to enjoy its blue waters and have lunch. And from here we will leave the Gulf of Valinco on the port side (161º), gradually approaching the beautiful beaches of Tralicetu, Rocapina and Furnellu where we will anchor in fine sand to spend the afternoon and spend the night.

5TH RAIL: FURNELLU-BONIFACIO STRAIT- LA MADDALENA, SARDINIA (27 NM)

Today we will head towards the mythical Strait of Bonifacio. Crossing it is quite an experience for sailors. From here, already in the Tyrrhenian Sea, we will head towards the Maddalena archipelago, one of the most suggestive landscapes in the world. We will discover pure nature, anchoring in coves that form a group of unique beauty to enjoy a night in a paradisiacal environment.

6TH SHIPPING: LA MADDALENA ARCHIPELAGO, SARDINIA (17 NM)

Today we will have a well-deserved day to continue enjoying this magical place where we will find beautiful anchorages in the lee of any wind. We can rest and also snorkel, paddle surf or hike, or simply walk and discover the charming and colorful city of La Maddalena. Depending on what we feel like, we will anchor here to spend the night or we will approach the Lavezzi Islands reserve, which will provide us with another beautiful and wild set of islands just 4mn away.

    7TH SOURCE: LA MADDALENA-BONIFACIO ARCHIPELAGO (22 NM)

Today we will head to the port of Bonifacio where we will moor to enjoy for a day its truly magical surroundings and its atmosphere that brings together sailors from all over the world every year. We can walk, have a drink on a terrace, or maybe eat in one of its restaurants. We will visit the city located on top of a cliff sculpted by the wind. And we will enjoy the good night atmosphere that is breathed in this mythical port.

    8TH RAIL: BONIFACIO-GULF OF VALINCO-PROPIANO (30 NM)

We will have a leisurely breakfast before casting off to arrive around noon at our last anchorage in Propiano, a beautiful coastal town in the Gulf of Valinco. To starboard we will leave a succession of quiet and isolated coves, and beautiful white sand beaches, until we reach Capu Laurosu, one of the wildest coves in the area. Here we will spend our last day resting and enjoying these wonderful waters.

    9TH RAIL: PROPIANO-CANNES (80 NM)

We will raise anchor at dawn, to begin our last voyage. We will say goodbye to Corsica and sail towards our destination. During this voyage we will have a new ADVANCED SAILING NAVIGATION WORKSHOP, trying to obtain the greatest performance from the wind, currents and sea.

    10TH RAIL: PROPIANO-CANNES (60 NM)

We will continue sailing under the stars and the moon, we will enjoy the sunrise and live the life of a high-altitude sailor on board, surely telling a thousand and one anecdotes of our trip. We will take advantage of navigation to learn at least 5 basic knots in a last “ROBE WORKSHOP”. And around noon, we will moor our sailboat in the port of Cannes, ending the program after more than 425mn of navigation and we will say goodbye to what will surely have been a great shared experience.

Spectacular as always! It is the second time that I go with Ignacio to Columbretes. This time we had less luck with the wind but Ignacio kept us very entertained with the many workshops and knowledge of navigation. Even so, we were able to sail a good stretch and visit the Grossa Island of Columbretes.
