Miles building trip to bring our Racing Boat back from Greece. Thus will suit anyone wishing to get some good quality miles and overnight passages. Discover the areas around Greece and across to Italy. Taking in some beautiful areas including Sicilly the Aeolian islands and Sardinia.

And with miles and time on the water comes experience and confidence. Confidence not only in your own abilities but also confidence in how a boat handles and indeed what she can handle if you end up with testing weather and sea conditions.

We sail from Kefalonia in Greece and aim to make a passage to North Sardinia via the Aeolian Islands. You will get about 600 nautical miles, planning and executing long passages, plenty of night sailing and experience of passing shipping (all dependent on weather). This is a good way to gain mileage for the Swiss Sea Licence. It is also possible to make your astro navigational sights if you are working towards your Yachtmaster Ocean.

The emphasis is on having fun under the guidance of one of our experienced skippers, who will give you the opportunity to do as much or as little as you like.

Plan

The plan is to deliver the boat to Northern Sardinia starting in Kefalonia then to the Aeolian islands, Southern Sardinia finishing in Northern Sardinia Costa Smeralda.

With a team of 5-6 like minded sailors we will leave Kefalonia working in watches to sail across the Adriatic past southern Italy Calabria then up to the Messina straits leaving Sicily on our port side with views of Etna. Then onwards and upwards to the Aeolian past Stromboli and making passage to Sardinia.

I moved to Italy with my family 7 years ago and we run a RYA Training Centre in Genoa. I have been sailing since the age of 10, initially on dinghies and then moving on to yachts. My husband, Ian is the course instructor and he is a fully qualified RYA yachtmaster instructor, examiner and with many years of experience.
