Discover the breathtaking diversity of the Caribbean on our special sailing trip from Puerto Rico to the British Virgin Islands (BVI) and back
From historic cities and tropical bays to turquoise reefs and vibrant islands, every day on this itinerary offers Caribbean experiences full of variety and relaxation. During our voyage, we'll enjoy the alternation between vibrant ports, relaxed anchorages, and the unique natural beauty of the northern Caribbean islands.
Dive into crystal-clear waters, explore colorful coral reefs, experience tropical sunsets, and the warm island life: from Caribbean music and cocktails to vibrant markets and relaxed beach bars. We enjoy life on board and toast together in the evening as the palm trees rustle in the evening breeze.
Our adventure begins in San Juan, Puerto Rico. From here, we sail leisurely via Culebra and Vieques through the Spanish Virgin Islands to the British Virgin Islands. After exciting days and nights between Virgin Gorda, Jost van Dyke, and Tortola, our route takes us back to Puerto Rico via the same route, allowing us more time for new discoveries and relaxing days of sailing. (We will transit through the US Virgin Islands.)

Highlights
Puerto Rico – starting and destination port of San Juan with its UNESCO-protected old town, Spanish-Caribbean atmosphere and international flight connections
Culebra & Vieques – Dreamy “Spanish Virgins” with quiet bays and paradisiacal nature (e.g. Bio-Bay on Vieques)
British Virgin Islands
Virgin Gorda (“The Baths” – spectacular granite rocks and turquoise pools)
Jost van Dyke (beach fun and legendary bars like the Soggy Dollar Bar)
Norman Island (caves, snorkeling paradises and quiet bays)
Tortola (main island with lively ports)

territory
The sailing area around Puerto Rico and the British Virgin Islands offers perfect sailing weather year-round – especially in January: cool northeast trade winds with 4–5 Beaufort, plenty of sunshine, 25–29°C air temperature, and a pleasantly warm 26–27°C water temperature. The water remains clear, and navigation between cays and islands takes place in moderate daily stages. The area is famous for sheltered bays, vibrant underwater landscapes, friendly people, and a relaxed Caribbean lifestyle. Most distances are ideal for vacation cruises – short sailing days, plenty of swimming stops, and plenty of time for exploration.

  • Plan
Our sailing adventure begins in San Juan: After boarding and a safety briefing, we prepare our boat and supplies. Our route takes us east – first to the Spanish Virgin Islands (Culebra, Vieques), considered an insider tip for bay and nature lovers.
From there, we'll cross over to the British Virgin Islands, where picturesque anchorages, beach bars, national parks, and snorkeling adventures await. We'll enjoy relaxing days on Virgin Gorda, Jost van Dyke, Norman Island, and Tortola. The daily itineraries are planned to allow time for swimming, shore excursions, and relaxing evenings in the Caribbean.
Finally, we sail back to Puerto Rico and conclude our journey with a final shore visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Crew changes at the beginning and end of the cruise are particularly easy thanks to the convenient airport connections.
The trip offers a Caribbean feeling, adventure, and relaxation, but also flexibility: The daily destinations are adjusted depending on the weather, crew wishes, and mood – for pure relaxation and enjoyment.
    Wind & Climate
Trade winds: Steady from the northeast, usually 3–6 Bft. – ensures relaxed, even sailing
    Water temperature: Ø 27 °C
    Air temperature: Ø 28-29 °C

Every day I am thankful for this beautiful life. I would like to share that. Normally, as an organizational developer, I accompany companies in change processes. When it comes to sailing, I want to contribute to making this adventure more sustainable and environmentally friendly.

Boat details

Our yacht, a Hanse, stands for a comfortable and outstanding experience. It gives you a feeling of spaciousness, a calm atmosphere and offers the freedom you need for your activities. Nevertheless, it is fast, sporty and has great sailing performance. It was designed by Volvo Ocean Race Designers and is the fastest yacht in its class.

The large cockpit offers enough space for pleasant get-togethers and long conversations with a breathtaking panoramic view. On the sun deck you can be alone, take the time to read a book or enjoy the nature around you. The skipper's cabin has its own entrance. Even if you are supported by a professional crew, you still have your privacy.

The yacht is a modern Hanse 575. It has 4 double cabins and a cabin for the skipper. Each cabin has its own bathroom with electric toilet. Starlink, multi media, air conditioning, generator, 230 V in all cabins and Nespresso coffee machine. Solar panels, radar, AIS, watermaker, washing machine, bathing platform and a dinghy with an electrically powered outboard motor.
