It's been an amazing experience; Fabrizio, the instructor, is a very well organized person, able to let you learn whatever is in your capabilities.

The boat itself was in great condition. I have stayed on the boat for the course duration and was quite comfortable.

People of this school have an incredible navigation experience and they transmit it by mentoring us in all the work on the boat: testing engine, planning route, triming, controling wheel and docking or undocking.

Great week learning how to sail with William. He has two boats and I was on the boat with more experienced crew. Had my own very comfortable cabin. Only 3 crew so we all got to skipper for two days each. It was fun, exhilarating and of course stunning scenery. William is patient and has a ton of knowledge to share. Hug

Curso de Competent Crew

El curso de Competent Crew es una introducción general a la navegación a vela y en él experimentarás la vida a bordo de un barco y conocerás todas las partes de una embarcación. Durante la formación, también aprenderás a utilizar la terminología náutica, a manejar las velas y una lancha auxiliar, mantener un rumbo y ayudar en las maniobras a bordo.

No es obligatorio realizar ningún curso previo al de Competent Crew, pero la RYA recomienda realizar el curso teórico "Essential Navigation", que se puede cursar online y te aportará la base teórica para que le saques más partido a la formación práctica.
Contenido del curso Competent Crew
El curso de Competent Crew de la Royal Yachting Association está compuesto por los siguientes puntos:
- Conocimiento de términos marinos y partes de un barco, jarcias y velas.
- Dirección y prácticas de la vela.
- Ropework.
- Precauciones y lucha contra incendios.
- Equipo de seguridad personal.
- Recuperación de hombre al agua.
- El equipo de emergencia. Usos y costumbres.
- Reglamento General de Circulación.
- Botes.
- Meteorología.
- El mareo.
- Deberes generales por encima y debajo de la cubierta.
- El gobierno del barco bajo motor y a vela.
- Manejo de líneas al estacionar o salir de un barco en el puerto.
Características del curso Competent Crew

El curso de Competent Crew de la RYA se caracteriza por tener una duración total de cinco días completos. Además, no hay un requesito específico sobre la edad, por lo que todos aquellos que lo deseen pueden realizar el curso.
