Boarding: from 10:00 a.m. on the day of departure in Point a Pitre, Guadeloupe.
(We recommend and allow boarding the day before departure).
Disembarkation: crew members can disembark once they have completed their check-in papers and stay on board for up to 1 day after the day of arrival (although crew members usually prefer to take a hotel to sleep in a normal bed before the return flight).
Type of navigation: Oceanic.
The first full day we will carry out a safety course with on-board practices in the use of material, safety protocols, MOB, hazards and precautions on board, explanation of life on board while traveling.
The second day we set sail for our destination and took it easy on this day to integrate into the ocean routine and get acclimated to the ship.
Starting on the third day, we started the training mentioned in the previous section to our destination. While we are doing ocean navigation, our energy reserve is low. Therefore, learning will take place in short blocks and in a relaxed environment.
Every day we will do group meteorological analysis, review of critical points of the ship and preventive maintenance during the voyage. In addition, every day we will touch on a theoretical/practical topic: Watch leader, improvement as a crew member, work with nautical charts, on-board communications, use and limitations of AIS and so on.
While we sail, the crew will participate every day in trimming, maneuvering and steering by ship guards.
The tasks of life on board such as a cook, kitchen kick, cleaning, etc... will be shared by the entire crew (if the crew member doesn't know how to cook, no problem, he will be a kitchen assistant the day he is).
