Discover a unique way to experience the north: sailing the Cantabrian Sea to Santiago.

For several days we will share a cruise on board touring some of the most spectacular ports and landscapes of the north coast: Avilés, Ribadeo, Viveiro, Cedeira and Ferrol, where the English Way begins on foot to Santiago.

It is not a cruise nor is previous experience required. It is a real experience of sailing and life on board, participating in maneuvers, learning, sharing and enjoying the sea from within.

The journey takes place in a small format: only 6 seats + skipper, to enjoy a comfortable, close and authentic experience, with space and real participation on board.

In addition, this experience is perfect for families looking to reconnect, share quality time and live real moments together, away from the screens and the daily rhythm. The boat creates a unique environment where you can collaborate, talk, learn and enjoy family time in a different way.

This route is part of the Sailing Route, allowing you to obtain the official Compostela after completing the English Way from Ferrol.

Avilés — Ferrol ⛵ Journey

A sailing experience along the north coast combining sea, conviviality and the spirit of the Camino. We will sail through some of the most beautiful corners of the Cantabrian Sea and northern Galicia until we reach Ferrol, the starting point of the English Way on foot to Santiago.

Planned program:

Day 1 — Avilés.

Reception of the crew, presentation of the ship and distribution of cabins.

Safety briefing, cruise planning and first contact with sailing and life on board.

Departure from Avilés heading west sailing along the Asturian coast.

Day 2 — Ribadeo.

Arrival to Ribadeo, entrance through the estuary and walk through the port and historic center.

Time to rest, get to know the marine environment and enjoy the local cuisine.

Day 3 — Viveiro.

Coastal sailing stage to Viveiro, one of the most charming ports on the coast of Lucense.

During the voyage, maneuvers, navigation, guards and active participation of the entire crew will be carried out.

Night in port.

Day 4 — Cedeira.

Departure to Cedeira navigating one of the most spectacular areas in northern Galicia.

Possibility to spot marine fauna and sail close to the great cliffs of the Artabrian coast.

Dinner and quiet atmosphere in port.

Day 5 — Ferrol.

Last stop to Ferrol, a naval city and the starting point of the English Way on foot to Santiago.

End of the journey, farewell to the crew and the possibility of continuing the Camino on foot for those who wish.

Other information

All crew members are welcome, even if they do not know the language spoken on board (english, french and spanish)

It's not just about arriving, but about experiencing the sea: participating in sailing, sharing life on board, learning, disconnecting and being part of an authentic journey to the north.

It is not necessary to have previous experience, just a desire to sail and enjoy the road.

Boat details

Our boat is a Dufour Gib Sea 43, a solid, sailor and very comfortable sailboat. At just over 43 feet, it stands out for its spaciousness, stability and safety on board, especially in North Sea conditions.

Designed by J&J Design and built by Dufour/Gib'Sea, it combines noble sailing with highly habitable interiors.

It has a double wheel, a large bathtub, a bathing platform and a spacious and bright interior layout, perfect for sharing trips and life on board.
