Leg 1: Port Ensenada → Guatemala

The journey begins in the lively Port Ensenada in northern Mexico - a classic starting point for major Pacific crossings.
After clearing customs and making the final preparations, it's time to cast off and head south!

We sail along the wild Pacific coast of Baja California, where cool mornings, long swells, and often moderate northwesterly winds dictate our rhythm. As we head south, it gets noticeably warmer, the nights milder, and the ocean calmer.

This first major leg demands true offshore sailing: long tacks, watch systems, and navigation along a largely unprotected coastline. Depending on the route, we will round Cabo San Lucas and then cross over for the longer passage towards the mainland.

    Crewwork & Tactics:
Weather routing, currents, and wind patterns play a crucial role. Anticipatory sailing is essential between thermal winds and large-scale weather systems. The Lotte navigates the Pacific swell smoothly and offers safety and comfort, even on longer passages.
Our destination: the green, tropical coast of Guatemala.

Stage 2: Guatemala - Jungle meets Pacific
We arrive in Puerto Quetzal, the gateway to Guatemala. Even upon arrival, you can feel the contrast: dense jungle, warm air, and a fascinating blend of nature and culture.
Optional excursions into the interior are available – for example, to colonial cities, volcanic landscapes, or coffee plantations. At the same time, we enjoy the peace and quiet on board, prepare the ship for the next leg of the journey, and let the impressions sink in.

Leg 3: Guatemala → El Salvador → Honduras → Nicaragua
Now begins the most varied part of the trip: several shorter coastal stages through Central America.

    El Salvador
A little-sailed cruising area with an unspoiled character. Small fishing villages, powerful Pacific surf and authentic insights into life off the beaten tourist track.

    Honduras (Pacific coast)
A rare destination for sailors – quiet, unspoiled, and steeped in nature. Here we experience Central America in its purest form.

    Nicaragua
Wide coastlines, little traffic, and spectacular sunsets. Depending on the schedule, we anchor off secluded beaches or use sheltered bays.
Particularly exciting from a sailing perspective:
These stages are characterized by changing conditions: light winds in the morning, thermal breezes in the afternoon, and occasional strong offshore winds (Papagayo effect). Flexibility, timing, and good planning are crucial.

Leg 4: Nicaragua → Costa Rica
As we approach Costa Rica, the area becomes greener, more vibrant, and more diverse. Dense rainforests stretch right to the sea, and exotic wildlife accompanies us even at anchor.
We will visit possible stops such as Papagayo Bay or sheltered anchorages along the coast. Here, relaxed sailing and experiencing nature combine in a special way.
    Highlights:
Snorkeling, jungle scenery, wildlife viewing - and always perfect anchorages.

Leg 5: Costa Rica → Panama (Shelter Bay)
The final leg takes us along the coast of Panama towards Shelter Bay Marina - the gateway to the Panama Canal.
Conditions are generally moderate, with warm temperatures and an increasingly tropical climate. We enjoy the vastness of the Pacific Ocean one last time before entering the sheltered marina.
There we let the trip come to a relaxed end - surrounded by jungle, monkeys, parrots and international sailing flair.

    A voyage for explorers
This route is more than just a passage - it is a journey along one of the most diverse coastlines in the world:
    Demanding offshore sailing
    Barely sailed waters
    Authentic Central America
    Tropical nature & wildlife
Long distances and intense sailing experiences

Our focus: genuine bluewater sailing combined with a spirit of discovery and enjoyment.

Our sailing trip with Andreas was simply fantastic! The Azores are a challenging yet breathtakingly beautiful sailing area. The absolute highlight was our stop on the stunning island of Flores. This meant we'd now sailed to the last two Azorean islands – they'd been on our bucket list for ages. Andreas is an experienced skipper, and we felt completely safe with him in the Atlantic at all times. The wildlife also left us speechless: we saw whales, dolphins, and turtles up close during the trip. An unforgettable adventure that I can wholeheartedly recommend! Thank you so much, Andreas, for another wonderful sailing trip. See you soon!

Dear Andreas! Although some time has passed: Dakar – Banjul – Gambia River – & Back in February 2024. That was the most amazing trip since Fitzcarraldo! Even if it was on a different continent. Our very first sailing trip together on the L... to the West African coast was a real adventure. Sailing off the coast demands the attention of the entire crew (trawlers, freighters, nets, unlit fishing boats). Venturing deeper and deeper into the Gambia River was simply a fantastic experience. The biggest dolphins ever, the banks completely covered in mangroves, countless birds, monkeys, live crocodiles you could touch, and all that at over 30°C in February – it was THE sailing and exploration highlight. Also unforgettable was anchoring in the bay of Hann (Dakar) with the muezzin and fishermen's songs, clearing in and out of customs in Dakar – we were in another world. Thank you so much for this incredible trip to West Africa! You are the greatest

Two weeks in the Azores in June, breathtaking scenery, experiencing the famous four seasons every day, dolphins and whales – simply fantastic! But the boat and skipper were at least as impressive. The SY L... is superbly equipped in terms of sailing and comfort; everything is well thought out and optimized. The skipper knows his boat inside and out. Andreas is prepared for every situation, even an all-female crew with limited to no sailing experience. His calm demeanor, his unwavering friendliness, and his cheerful disposition significantly influence the atmosphere on board. This makes you want to sail the seas again aboard the Lotte. Many thanks, Andreas!

Fionula and Andreas, our sailing trip was characterized by very little wind, something I've never experienced before in the Channel Islands. Nevertheless, it was a challenging cruising area. You masterfully navigated our voyage; it was a fantastic experience. Andreas, you handle your ship impeccably; I don't think it could be better. And you have such great support from Fionula. Thank you both, and I wish you all the best and always a hand's breadth of water under your keel.

A fantastic, comfortable ship, professional ship and crew management by Andreas and Fionula. We tackled adventures, enjoyed some relaxing moments, and laughed a lot together. Many, many thanks to everyone involved! Simply wonderful!

I had the pleasure of accompanying Andreas and Lotte on their sailing trip from Bodø to Bergen. Andreas impresses with both his extensive expertise and his personality. He takes time for his fellow sailors, explains many things, and always makes sure everyone has fun. I fondly remember the evenings we spent entertaining the harbors with our German pop karaoke parties. Longer sailing stretches are no problem thanks to his knowledge and tireless, friendly presence. He gives everyone their freedom or integrates them into the daily routine according to their wishes. Sailing on the Lotte is a lovingly maintained yacht that leaves nothing to be desired in terms of equipment. The safety equipment is very comprehensive and state-of-the-art, and the rest of the technology is impeccably maintained and in perfect working order. The other amenities on board are very extensive, especially the galley, which is more than well-equipped with a microwave, espresso machine, and induction cooktop. Even small touches like a fully charged power bank in every cabin are thoughtfully included. All of this shows that here is someone who is passionate and enthusiastic about what they do, who makes the trip an unforgettable experience and who cares deeply about both the safety and the fun of the fellow sailors.
