Green and mountainous Corfu, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a beautiful surprise: Venetian fortresses, museums, and vibrant historic centers, gourmet hotspots alternate with dreamy bays. The old town is beautiful and vibrant. The bays are equally stunning.
Once at sea, it feels like you can touch the Albanian coast with your finger, it is so close.
Leaving Corfu Town, we'll head north to the island of Erikoussa: a small paradise with a Caribbean feel. Not far away is Othoni, a tranquil island halfway between Greece and Puglia, with a typical border town atmosphere.
We'll then descend towards Erikoussa and stop in the splendid bay of Paleokastritsa. From there, we'll cross the Ionian Sea to Italy, arriving at Santa Maria di Leuca. This interesting Apulian town is surrounded by beautiful sea caves, such as the Porcinara Cave and the Devil's Cave. Even more picturesque is Gallipoli, which we'll reach the next day.
The old city is perched on a limestone island and connected to the mainland, and therefore to the new city, by a stone bridge. Its ancient center is a maze of narrow streets, stately buildings, churches, and a rich artistic heritage. A lovely sail will take us to Crotone, a Calabrian city with a pleasant waterfront, not far from the Capo Rizzuto Marine Reserve.
