Getting miles and gaining experience is essential for any boater in training. Embark on this Mile Building journey that we will take from Baiona, Galicia, to Concarneau, French Brittany, for first-class sailing and training.

Once on the boat, you'll get expert guidance from the skipper, from navigating digital media and charts to trimming the sails, you'll gain a lot of experience and you'll cover 450 nautical miles. On the route there will be a mix of day and night navigation, the usual surveillance system on board: the guards. There are many miles to go, so we will do a daily weather analysis on a push unless there is a weather alert.

Our Mile Building program is designed for you to accumulate practice with instructors who will help you shorten training deadlines. After the sun goes down, the sea seems like a very different place. In this activity, you will practice night sailing, knowing and practicing the use of electronic aids that modern ships have.

As you progress through the RYA training scheme, you'll need accumulated miles for Yachtmaster courses. In this activity we covered 450 miles on Tidal Waters. RYA skipper/Yachtmaster in training who need 60-mile tickets are recommended to first obtain the theoretical Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster.

Improve your leadership, navigation and route planning skills. Build and improve your confidence in night sailing.

Plan

Set sail at 10:00am on the starting day from Baiona, Galicia.

Disembark at 15:00 on the last day in Concarneau.

Route:

450 nautical miles. Mile Building sailboat trips have a specific objective every day: to go from point A to point B, so every day on board you have to make an appropriate route plan. You will learn to plan and execute pilot and route plans, avoiding surprises due to lack of planning in the future.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: It is recommended to have the level of a crew member with practice in daytime sailing.

• Transfer to the port of departure.

• Food and drinks. We will make a box of 30€/day/crew member on board for food on board.

Boat details

70-foot steel ocean sailboat equipped with ketch and designed by German Frers, one of the most prestigious naval designers of all time. The boat is a commission for his brother, who wanted a boat to sail around the world easily, comfortably and safely.

The boat is in perfect sailing condition, it has received different refits throughout its history, the last of which in 2024 in which the entire electrical system and wiring of the boat were changed. Complete with main engine and generator, autopilot, mats, sails, fixed and mobile rigs, etc... the boat was dry for 12 months for this refit and was prepared for ocean sailing school.

The crew is comprised of 2 experienced RYA instructors so that one is always on call.

Our instructors have a lot of experience not only sailing but also teaching, they are patient, technical and sensitive to the different characters that may be on board.

Boat equipment: Unlimited oceanic Zone 1 with all the safety measures recommended by MCA and RYA.
