Sailing Trip with Charter

This journey is a tour along the Costa de Azahar from Grao de Castellón to the Bahía de los Alfaques, next to the mouth of the Ebro, passing through the Columbretes archipelago on the way back.

Learning to handle the boat with the usual maneuvers and the management of the rigging coordinated with the government in different directions will be completed with the planning and execution of the route using rhumb line navigation techniques.

We will use navigation charts of the area together with the bearing compass to, using coastal references, plan the route and calculate positions along the way.

When we lose sight of the coast we will use dead reckoning for precise calculations.

We will do an online refresher session on the techniques to be used.

Plan

- First day, departure from Grao de Castellón heading north to spend the night in Oropesa or Las Fuentes, depending on weather and crew conditions.

- Second day, departure towards Vinaroz where we will spend the night.

- Third day, departure towards the bay of Alfaques where we will anchor for the day to return to Vinaroz.

- Fourth day, heading to the Columbretes archipelago, spending the night anchored on a buoy in Ila Grossa.

- Fifth day, crossing back to Grao de Castellón.

Other information

All crew members are welcome, even if they do not know the language spoken on board (english and spanish)

Overnight stays and meals will be on board, at an approximate cost of €10 per person per day.

Fuel will depend on wind conditions but will range from €15 to €35 per person.

A certificate of navigation hours will be issued with details of the subjects studied.

Boat details

Boat that combines comfort with good speed benefits for its length. Like all First, it defends its rating well for its hull design, a good size stick that supports a large sail area compensated by a daggerboard that lowers its draft to 2.35 m, and symmetrical spi. Although it is not comparable to a Swan type racer, its interior comfort makes up for it, offering good habitability. It plays a more than worthy role in regattas and offers good comfort for long stays on vacation.
