A trip to develop your skills as a crew member and skipper. Maximum 6 crew members to make the most of your time.

We will leave from Valencia and visit the islands of Ibiza, Formentera, Cabrera, Palma de Mallorca and Columbretes.

We will practice offshore navigation, both day and night, coastal navigation techniques, sail trimming, weather forecasting, rules of course and steering (RIPA) and in general all the skills necessary to skipper a sailing boat.

This is a course designed to help you gain experience in sailing and achieve the confidence necessary to rent a boat yourself.

This is not a pleasure cruise. We will have time to swim in the incredible coves of the Balearic archipelago, but that is not the objective of the trip. We will spend most of the time sailing.

Upon completion, diplomas will be issued and a certificate of completed miles will be delivered.

Day 1 — Saturday: Boarding and delivery of cabins and departure to Formentera. Onboard safety workshop and rules of direction and governance. Dinner on board and night sailing.

Day 2 - Sunday: Arrival to Formentera and anchoring. We will spend the day discovering the famous coves in this part of the archipelago, either in Ibiza or in Formentera, depending on the weather. We can bathe and go down to the beach. Food on board. In the afternoon we will hold an advanced trimming workshop for sails and marine knots. At nightfall we will take anchors and start sailing, we will cross the famous Es Freus between Ibiza and Formentera and head to the island of Cabrera, located to the south-east of Palma de Mallorca. Dinner on board and night sailing.

Day 3 - Monday: Arrival to Cabrera Island, where we will anchor to spend the day. Breakfast and free time to enjoy the waters of what is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful islands in the Balearic Islands. We can go ashore in the auxiliary boat, bathe and walk some of the island's trails. Lunch and dinner on board. Spend the night at anchor. (Important: Mooring in Cabrera is subject to obtaining a buoy reserve, which is not always easy. If we don't succeed, we'll whale along the south coast of the island of Mallorca, which is also a great option).

Day 4 — Tuesday. Breakfast. Early in the morning we will carry anchors to go to the famous Bay of Palma. We will carry out a coastal navigation workshop, using only the nautical chart and the compass of markings to position ourselves and navigate the entire south coast of Mallorca. We will enter the port to enjoy the famous city of Palma de Mallorca. Free food in the city. At dusk, meeting on the ship and crew dinner at one of the city's restaurants. Night in port.

Day 5 — Wednesday: Breakfast. At noon departure to the Columbretes Islands archipelago. We will do day and night sailing where we can practice everything we learned in the previous days. Lunch and dinner on board.

Day 6 — Thursday: Arrival to Columbretes and anchorage. With the prior authorization of the reserve guard, we can disembark to discover this enigmatic island of volcanic origin. Food on board. At dusk we will carry anchors to leave for Valencia. Dinner on board and night sailing.

Day 7 — Friday: Early in the morning, arrival in Valencia. Breakfast on board, disembarkation and end of the cruise.

Boat details

10-meter ocean sailing yacht from the manufacturer Maxus Yatch. New from 2024, very similar to those offered by charter companies, making it ideal for familiarizing yourself with its maneuver and type of navigation. It has 3 large cabins and a convertible lounge, a full kitchen and two bathrooms.

Sailing on this sailboat is easy and maneuverable quickly, allowing us to sail in a relaxed manner. Its shallow draft will allow us to anchor in the best coves of the Mediterranean. Its spacious cockpit stands out, where we can spend pleasant moments outdoors.

Doing the Valencia-Balearic Islands 500 NM crossing with Miguel has been an excellent experience. As a calm and capable skipper, as a patient and motivating instructor, I would cross any ocean with Miguel!

Very interesting course, we saw all the methods of dead reckoning, positioning, tides, etc. Miguel explains the concepts very well and it is clear that he masters them. He is patient and doesn't mind repeating things a thousand times. He is a great teacher, I am sure I will sign up for other courses.
