The course for maintaining the competence of the Basic Safety Training certificate will be based at least on the standards of competence required to assume the tasks, duties and responsibilities in the areas indicated in Section A-VI / 1.3 of the Agreement. 1978 International Training, Certification and Watchkeeping Standards for Seafarers, STCW, and its Code in the amended version, as well as the detailed prescriptions in the IMO model course.
Therefore, practical tests must be carried out where it will be demonstrated that the standards of competence of the Basic Maritime Safety Training certificate are still being met. With these tests, the skills of the attendees will be evaluated and must be carried out with satisfactory results.
These practical tests will be made up of 2 different blocks and will have a total duration of 16 hours.
