Knowledge to be acquired and tests:
First test: Evaluation of theoretical knowledge through a multiple choice test.
Second test: Evaluation of knowledge, through a practical test on the ability of each student to perform the following functions:
- Send an alert and a distress call with the GMDSS subsystems studied that allow this function.
- Receive and respond, where appropriate, to a distress call initiated by another ship or the retransmission of the distress call by a coast station or rescue coordination center.
- Cancel false alarms issued in the GMDSS subsystems studied in accordance with established procedures.
- Receive, through the appropriate means, information to assist navigation.
- Maintain emergency, security and general communications with each of the GMDSS subsystems that allow this function, both in Spanish and English.
- Test the corresponding GMDSS subsystems in accordance with established procedures and, where appropriate, with the equipment manuals.
- Management of the gazetteers of ship stations and coastal stations.
