Do you want to be among the frontrunners at the next club championship or specifically improve your regatta skills? Then our catamaran regatta training with former Olympian Niko Resch in Pomer, Croatia is just right for you.

During an intensive training weekend, we combine theoretical knowledge with extensive sessions on the water. The focus is on sail trim, regatta tactics, boat handling, and racing rules.

The goal is to increase the boat's speed, optimize tactical decisions, and execute maneuvers in the regatta fleet more safely and efficiently. We also place particular emphasis on start training, as a successful start often lays the foundation for a good race result.

    Start training

A successful start is often the key to a good position in the regatta fleet. Therefore, we place particular emphasis on the various aspects of the starting phase during training. On our catamarans, we practice, among other things:

    • The different starting procedures and their practical application
    • Development of a secure sense of time and distance
    • Optimal acceleration in the last few seconds before the signal
    • Ideal positioning on the starting line
    • Strategic decisions for different starting situations

Through regular repetition and realistic exercises, you will gain more confidence and control in all types of regattas.

    Sail and rigging trim

The correct tuning of sails and rigging has a decisive influence on performance and speed. In regatta training, we focus intensively on the following topics:

    • Efficient trim settings for different courses
    • Effective use of all available trimming equipment
    • Optimal rig tuning
    • Adjusting settings to different wind conditions
    • Increased boat performance and speed

The focus is on understanding which trim changes will bring the greatest performance benefit under which conditions.

Tactics on upwind and downwind courses

Regattas aren't won by high speed alone – the right tactical decisions are also crucial. That's why we train, among other things:

    • Recognizing and utilizing wind shifts
    • Effective use of wind fields and gusts
    • Strategies for upwind sailing
    • Tactical concepts on downwind stretches
    • Special techniques for light wind conditions
    • The right positioning in relation to the competition
    • Making situation-appropriate decisions during the race

This will help you learn to better assess weather, wind and the regatta field, and to consistently use tactical opportunities.

    Spinnaker and wingaker training

Those who are proficient with spinnakers and wingakers can gain valuable advantages on downwind courses. In training, we focus on:

    • Controlled setting of the downwind sails
    • Fast and safe recovery
    • Effective gybing under spinnaker
    • Optimization of sail trim
    • Perfect coordination within the crew
    • Fast and controlled sailing with spinnaker and wingaker

The goal is to perfect the processes on board and to act safely and efficiently even under regatta pressure.
