RYA Coastal Skipper Course in Gibraltar

Coastal Skipper is an advanced sailing course for sailors with previous sailing experience to Day Skipper level and navigation to Yachtmaster Coastal Skipper level. It is 5 days living onboard the yacht.

Your practical course starts in the bay of Gibraltar, a perfect sail training exercise area. You will practice boat handling under power and sail, wind awareness, sail trim and man overboard drills. Your practical and navigation skills are then put into practice for the rest of the week with passages to various sailing destinations.

If others onboard have Yachtmaster exams you can also sail into Friday night so book flight home for Saturday.

All crew members are welcome, even if they do not know the language spoken on board (english)

What to bring:
Please note that stowage space on a boat is always limited. Use a soft sports type bag, which can fold flat, not hard suit cases.
Passport (European ID cards are not valid).
Euros for drinks ashore in Spain.
Cap, Sun Glasses, Sun protection.
Deck shoes (white soled trainers or crocs are fine too).
Good quality warm fleece. Comfortable clothes, sweat / T shirts etc
Wash Towel , the small quick drying type found in camping shops are best.
Toiletries and wash bag for visits to shower rooms
RYA logbook, you can buy online or when you arrive

I really enjoyed the experience - Nacho was an excellent instructor who got the most out of everything: the weather, the boat and those on the course. Everyone who joined the course was great company and I really enjoyed the sailing, the learning and the time on shore.

A crossing to Ceuta from Gibraltar on a Bavaria is a unique experience. The captain is a genius, who knows what he is doing and makes you have a good time. With winds of more than 30 knots and waves of more than 3 meters, he remained calm and safe on board at all times. I learned a lot and had more fun. Recommendable!
