THE TRIP
Discover the emerald-green islands of the Ionian Sea on our relaxed sailing trip around Corfu in mid-July. Turquoise anchorages, secluded beaches accessible only by boat, and the unique light of the Ionian Islands – this trip is pure Mediterranean bliss. Short daily sailing distances leave plenty of time for swimming, snorkeling, and simply enjoying the scenery. From the Caribbean-like waters off Antipaxos to the Blue Lagoon near Sivota and the picturesque harbors of Paxos – here you'll experience the most relaxed side of sailing.
Enjoy long days swimming in crystal-clear water, explore hidden coves and sea caves, indulge in Greek tavernas right on the water, and experience the unique atmosphere of the Ionian Islands amidst olive groves and Venetian architecture. We sail together, learn from each other, and enjoy the freedom of the open water. Ideal for beginners!
Our Hanse 575 is a true bluewater yacht – built for life and travel on the sea. We sail with warm and welcoming people, discovering the world together and experiencing real boat life: sun, wind, saltwater, little adventures, and the feeling of truly discovering something together as a crew. Galini is at home on the sea and usually far from her home port on Poros. You'll become part of life on board. Things won't always go according to plan – sometimes something breaks down or the weather changes our course – but that's precisely what makes it authentic. We're also happy to show you the onboard technology, and you can participate in all activities – navigating, steering, cooking, and even the technical aspects. Not a cruise, but a true community, genuine experiences, and the magic of the sea.
THE RULE
The Ionian Sea around Corfu is considered one of the most beautiful and relaxed sailing areas in Greece. Unlike the Aegean, there is no strong Meltemi wind here – instead, the reliable Maistro usually blows moderately from the northwest, making sailing pleasant and predictable. The islands and bays are close together, and typical daily legs are only 5 to 25 nautical miles long – leaving plenty of time for swimming, anchoring, and simply enjoying the scenery. The landscape is lush and green, with olive groves, cypress trees, and pines stretching right to the water's edge. Free anchoring in sheltered bays is possible everywhere, and the Greek hospitality in the small harbor towns is legendary. The starting and finishing point is Gouvia Marina on Corfu – only about 15 minutes from Corfu International Airport, which has direct flights from many European cities.
WIND & CLIMATE
In mid-July, temperatures are very summery (air: 30–35°C, water: 25–27°C). The Maistro – the prevailing northwest wind in the Ionian Sea – usually sets in around midday and blows at a pleasant 2–4 Beaufort in the afternoon, ideal for relaxed sailing. Mornings are often calm – perfect for swimming and a leisurely start to the day. In the evenings, the wind dies down again, providing peaceful nights at anchor under the starry sky. Rain is practically impossible in July – brilliant sunshine and deep blue water are guaranteed.
Air: 30–35°C / Ø 33°C | Water: 25–27°C / Ø 26°C | Wind: NW 2–4 Bft., moderate breeze
