Arrival/Departure:
Departure: Olbia, Sardinia
Arrival: Marina di Stabia (Naples), Italy
Discover the allure of the Tyrrhenian Sea on our special sailing trip from Olbia/Porto Cervo (Sardinia) to the Amalfi Coast with Capri in mid-June. From the glamorous Costa Smeralda and the Pontine Islands to the world-famous cliffs of the Amalfi Coast, you can expect diverse sailing stages, authentic onboard life, and Mediterranean adventures. The trip offers a wonderful blend of offshore and coastal sailing. You'll navigate, participate in the expansive crossing of the open Tyrrhenian Sea, and enjoy the contrast between Sardinian island elegance and southern Italian coastal culture.
Immerse yourself in the emerald waters of the Costa Smeralda, experience the grand crossing of the open sea, discover the mysterious Pontine Islands, and let yourself be enchanted by the magic of Capri and the Amalfi Coast. We sail together, learn from each other, and enjoy the freedom of the water.
Galini, our Hanse 575, is a true bluewater yacht – built for life and travel on the sea. We sail with warm and welcoming people, discovering the world together and experiencing real boat life: sun, wind, saltwater, little adventures, and the feeling of truly discovering something together as a crew. Galini is at home on the sea and usually far from her home port on Poros. You'll become part of life on board. Things won't always go according to plan – sometimes something breaks down or the weather changes our course – but that's precisely what makes it authentic. We're also happy to show you the onboard technology, and you can participate in all activities – navigating, steering, cooking, and even the technical aspects. Not a cruise, but a true community, genuine experiences, and the magic of the sea.
Our adventure begins in Olbia with boarding, introductions, and a comprehensive safety briefing. From there, we sail along the Costa Smeralda towards Porto Cervo – Sardinia's most exclusive stretch of coastline with its turquoise bays. Weather and wind conditions permitting, we'll depart from here for the long crossing: approximately 165 nautical miles across the open Tyrrhenian Sea, heading for the Pontine Islands. Night watches, starry skies, and the unique feeling of vastness and freedom make this passage a highlight of the trip. On Ponza, a gem awaits us, far removed from mass tourism – dramatic cliffs, turquoise waters, and authentic Italian island charm. From the Pontine Islands, we continue into the Gulf of Naples. Depending on conditions, we'll visit Procida – the colorful little island that captivates with its authentic charm – and, of course, Capri with its legendary Faraglioni rocks and the Blue Grotto. The final stages of our journey take us along the breathtaking Amalfi Coast – Positano, Amalfi, pastel-colored villages clinging to dramatic cliffs. Our destination port is Marina di Stabia at the foot of Mount Vesuvius, from where Naples Airport is about a 30-minute drive away. Just like in real sailing, the wind, the weather, and the crew will decide exactly which ports and bays we visit and how long we stay in each one.
For those collecting miles for their next sailing license: Since we'll be crossing the open sea on this trip, you'll log plenty of nautical miles. Of course, we'll issue you an official mileage certificate at the end of the trip.
WIND & CLIMATE
In mid-June, we can expect summery temperatures (air: 25–30°C, water: 22–23°C). In the Tyrrhenian Sea, the winds are generally moderate from the northwest to west at 2–4 Beaufort, ideal for enjoyable sailing and the long crossing. Near the coast, a reliable thermal breeze often develops in the afternoon. Rain is very rare in mid-June – we can expect mostly bright sunshine and long, warm evenings.
THE YACHT
Our beautiful GALINI is a very fast, large, and comfortable yacht. She spent the winter in the Caribbean and will cross the Atlantic in April/May.
She is a modern Hanse 575 with four double cabins and a skipper's cabin. Each cabin has its own bathroom with an electric toilet. Amenities include Wi-Fi via Starlink (optional), multimedia system, 220V/7kW generator (230V in all cabins), washing machine, bread maker, and coffee machine. She has large solar panels, radar, AIS, watermaker, hydraulic swim platform, and a dinghy with an outboard motor. She is exceptionally well-equipped with safety and navigation systems, and much more – everything you need to be self-sufficient without having to call at a port. A yacht that meets the highest standards of safety, design, and comfort.
The sailing characteristics are also outstanding! The Hanse was designed by Voovo Ocean Racers and is the fastest yacht in its class. Sailing pleasure is guaranteed!
Of course, unexpected things always happen on a boat. Minor repairs are part of everyday sailing. That's all part of the sailing life. GALINI is very well equipped with tools and spare parts. We're also happy to show you how to do the repairs yourself, if you'd like.
Climb aboard a superbly equipped, lovingly maintained bluewater yacht and enjoy something special: With us, nothing is off the rack. Every trip is unique – sometimes spontaneous, sometimes planned, always full of surprises. Unplanned experiences are just as much a part of it as relaxing days on deck.
Want more than just a sailing trip? We'll take care of the onboard technology together, and you can lend a hand if you like. You can turn your holiday cruise into a real experience on a long-distance cruising yacht and become part of life at sea.
