Basic Training Certificate.
1. Possession of the "Basic Training Certificate" will be required for all personnel who perform professional maritime functions on civil ships, as well as those entrusted with security or pollution prevention tasks related to operations. of the ship, by virtue of the Table of Obligations and Instructions of the Ship, the Onboard Emergency Plan in case of Hydrocarbon Pollution or the Safety Management Manual.
2. The "Basic Training Certificate" will be obtained after successfully completing the course whose content is set out in Annex I and must comply with the competency standards of Section A-VI/1 of the Training Code.
3. The duration of the course will not be less than seventy hours, of which, at a minimum, they will consist of forty-five hours of theoretical content and twenty-five hours of practical content.
4. As for the personnel not included, who are not passengers, they will receive basic familiarization training on board that allows them to know how to act in the following situations:
Fall of a person into the sea;
Smoke or fire detection;
Fire or abandon ship alarm;
Identification of assembly and boarding stations, as well as evacuation routes in case of emergency;
Location and use of life jackets;
Raise the alarm and have a basic knowledge of the use of portable fire extinguishers;
Take immediate action upon encountering an accident or other medical emergency before requesting medical assistance on board; and
Close and open fire, watertight and weathertight doors installed on the ship, other than hull openings.
