The skipper for this activity speaks spanish. To participate you must speak one of the languages spoken on board.
Before applying for your place:
The master class is a 7-day professional intensive, not an initiation course.
It's 60 hours, 81% in the water and a maximum of 5 participants, and that pace only works if everyone arrives knowing how to drive the boat. Day 1 is a diagnosis, not a class; the rest of the week is built on what we observe. If the level of the group is uneven, the week worsens for everyone, including yours.
That's why we ask you to arrive with real experience in the following areas, in addition to passing the competency assessment.
What you should already know how to do:
Maneuver
- Autonomously dock, undock and moor a vessel the size of our fleet (40 - 50ft), without corrections from the instructor
- Get a person back to the water without help
- Have actively skippered for at least 15 days in the last 12 months
Meteorology and trip planning
- Interpret an official weather report (AEMET, Windy, PredictWind or GRIB) and decide for yourself whether to go out or not
- Have planned and carried out at least one coastal crossing of several days without supervision in the last 24 months
Funding and environmental respect
- Anchor and carry without assistance under normal conditions
- We started from there to work on compliance in protected areas and difficult scenarios: we don't teach how to anchor from scratch
Emergency response
- Know the usual procedures for men to water, fire, waterway, engine and trailer failure
- The course tests them under pressure and evaluates your criteria: do not introduce them for the first time
Vessel systems
- Carry out a thorough pre-check of the engine, electrical system, plumbing and rig
- Know how to diagnose common faults before they become emergencies
Charter operation and documentation
- Basic familiarity with the charter contract structure, passenger liability and commercial charter regulations
- Be able to complete the browsing diary and a basic incident report without assistance
What we teach
- Customer management, delegation to the crew, support and feedback, and professional conduct under real charter conditions are at the core of the course: here you don't need previous experience. That's what the master class is for.
