Day 1: Introduction and Fundamentals of Coastal Navigation:
* 09:00 – 11:00: Introduction and review of prior knowledge.
* Explanation of the course agenda.
* Review of nautical charts, reading of instruments and basic planning.
* 11:00 – 13:00: Practice in port: preparing the yacht for departure.
* Assignment of duties to the crew, safety reviews on board.
* 13:00 – 14:00: Lunch.
* 14:00 – 17:00: Navigation in local waters.
* Basic maneuvers, sail adjustment and rudder control.
* First practices of tacking and gybing under supervision.
Day 2: Planning and Coastal Navigation:
* 09:00 – 12:00: Planning the crossing.
* Use of nautical charts and planning a coastal route.
* Introduction to the use of compass, GPS and navigation markers.
* 12:00 – 13:00: Lunch.
* 13:00 – 17:00: Navigation in coastal waters.
* Execution of the planned crossing, navigation by reference points.
* Practice mooring in ports and anchoring in bays.
Day 3: Leadership and Crew Management:
* 09:00 – 12:00: Introduction to crew leadership and management.
* Crew roles, effective communication and decision making.
* Evaluating weather conditions and how to adjust to them.
* 12:00 – 13:00: Lunch.
* 13:00 – 17:00: Advanced navigation.
* Navigation in more difficult conditions, maneuvers in limited space.
* Practice sailing in poor visibility or simulating breakdowns.
Day 4: Night Navigation and Emergency Practices:
* 09:00 – 12:00: Navigation and safety at sea.
* Emergency drills: man overboard, engine failure, fires on board.
* Review of safety equipment and basic first aid practices.
* 12:00 – 13:00: Lunch.
* 13:00 – 17:00: Preparation for night navigation.
* Study of navigation lights, planning of the night voyage.
* Night navigation, maneuvering and course tracking with limited visibility.
Day 5: Course Evaluation and Conclusion:
* 09:00 – 12:00: Practical assessment of coastal navigation.
* Practice of all the maneuvers learned, from mooring to tacking and navigation.
* Full leadership of the boat by the student (under supervision).
* 12:00 – 13:00: Lunch.
* 13:00 – 15:00: Final exam and conclusions.
* Theoretical and practical evaluation of the crossing.
* Instructor feedback and delivery of RYA Day Skipper certification.
