Once this STCW course has been completed and the corresponding certificate has been processed, the student will be able to process the Spanish Maritime Book (DIM) and work at sea. For this purpose, a medical examination must also be carried out at the Social Marine Institute (ISM), which also requires the current certificate in Basic Safety Training for its completion.
In addition to being a minimum for boarding civil ships, the certificate in Basic Safety Training has a wide variety of professional opportunities:
• Sailor in a Yacht Club, Marina or Marina.
• Sailor on a fishing boat if you obtain the professional Sailor Fisherman card.
• Sailor without government or machine functions on any vessel.
• Exercise in different positions on a cruise ship.
• Act as an assistant on a boat dedicated to water skiing, scuba diving, jet ski platforms, boats, among many others.
The program complies with the official regulations of Order FOM/2296/2002 and the Resolution of June 18, 2013, in compliance with the Formation Code of the STCW-78 Convention. Its content is contained in Rule VI/1 of the Amended STCW-78 Convention, Section A-VI/1, Tables A-VI/1-1, A-VI/1-2, A-VI/1-3, A-VI/1-4 and Section B-VI/1 of the Training Code.
The AFOREMENTIONED FOM ORDER, which accepts and develops the Basic Safety Training Certificate, stems from the adoption of common international bases in the field of maritime and nautical training established by the STCW Training Agreement of 1995. In this way, the Basic Safety Training course carried out with us follows the minimums specified in the same Agreement.
In our center we offer you the service of processing the certificate of specialty before the General Directorate of Merchant Shipping. If you are interested, you can check the current rates. This course does not include such a procedure.
