We will begin the cetacean cruise in the Bay of Algeciras, setting sail from Alcaidesa Marina in La Línea de la Concepción.

On this journey we will cross the Pillars of Hercules and enter the Atlantic Ocean from the Mediterranean Sea. It will be epic sailing and an iconic spot for sailors of all time. We will cross the coast of Cádiz, with its ancient traps, and we will see Tarifa, Bologna, Zahara de los Atunes, Barbate, Cape Trafalgar and El Palmar. From there we will head south along the Maghrebi coast (Tangier, Arcila, Larache, Casablanca, El Jadida, Safi, Essaouira and Agadir).

It is recommended to arrive a few days early, as we have planned a 4x4 excursion prior to the trip where we will visit Tarifa. Here we can go to Bolonia beach, where you can see the largest dune in Europe and visit the archaeological site of the Roman city of Baelo Claudia. This is considered the first cannery on the planet, since it was established in the heart of the trap; the Romans were already fishing tuna and making preserves that were transported to the heart of their empire for commercialization. Then we will visit Atlanterra and Zahara de los Atunes, where we will have a good meal at the Casa Juanito restaurant and enjoy its beaches.

It will be an adventure in which we will have the opportunity to spot cetaceans, seabirds, natural caves, deserted islands and volcanic islands, and in which we will enjoy deep-sea fishing. Hopefully, we'll eat tuna, emperor, or flampugas (golden) caught by ourselves (we won't say no to any other species that poke on our fishing rods).

We will stop on the island of Alegranza to bathe in its natural swarm, explore the volcano and take a walk along its deserted coast. There we will meet Kike, the owner of this curious volcanic island, who will tell us his story and act as our guide. On this island there is only a small stone house and a barbecue where we can cook whatever fish we have or what we can get on the island. We will spend the night anchored in its bay and, the next day, we will head to Playa Blanca, in Arrecife, and arrive at Marina Rubicón.

There you will find the One bar, a typical stop for sailors who are going to embark on the adventure of crossing the Atlantic. We can enjoy the delicious wrinkled potatoes with their mojo picón or whatever we want to try from the rich cuisine of Lanzarote, of course, paired with some of its great white wines from volcanic soil. It is advisable to rent a car to go around Lanzarote, visit its natural volcanology and climb Timanfaya, explore the beautiful white villages of the island, visit the César Manrique house-museum, take the route of the wine cellars and bathe in some of the different natural jameos that this volcanic island offers us.

The day of departure and arrival may vary due to organizational issues!

    First day:

At 06:00am we will set sail from the Bay of Algeciras and we will make a voyage of approximately 140 nm. We will cross the Pillars of Hercules and begin to cross the Atlantic Ocean. We will sail through Maghreb waters until we reach, more or less, the height of Casablanca.

    Second day:

We'll continue sailing and, hopefully, fishing along the way. We usually average 130/140 nm a day if the weather is favorable and allows it; in 48 hours we will be at the height of El Jadida.

    Third and fourth days:

We will continue sailing and, hopefully, fishing for something else. Already by the fourth day we will be at the height of Agadir, in Morocco.

    Fifth day:

On the fifth day we will arrive at the island of Alegranza. Hopefully and depending on the schedule, we could spot large cetaceans (I mean whales), since dolphins are usually seen throughout the journey, to have them accompany us across the Atlantic, playing and jumping on our bow.

    Sixth day:

The sixth day will be spent on the island of Alegranza; we will anchor in its bay and spend the night there. During the day we will go down to see the island and its host and owner, Kike, who will give us a tour of it. We will visit its small volcano, bathe in its jameo (natural pools) and, with luck, we will catch something in the anchorage and cook it on Kike's barbecue, who will accompany us, will liven up our stay on the island and tell us his story and anecdotes.

    Seventh day:

On the seventh day we will arrive at Marina Rubicón, located in the south of the island, in Playa Blanca, and we will conclude our Atlantic adventure aboard the catamaran. After that, you can enjoy a few more days of vacation on land, which is the most recommended thing to take advantage of and explore the entire island of Lanzarote: volcanic corners, colorful markets, hidden villages and many more adventures to enjoy. You can also choose to continue with us on the next voyage, visiting more islands in the Atlantic and heading to Cape Verde.

During the voyage, guards will be carried out for 4 hours a day, consisting of being in control of the ship and observing possible strange elements or changes in the weather, force or direction of the wind. Prior training will be carried out to know how to act in the face of changes, in addition to the need to notify the captain to make appropriate decisions. In general, these guards will be during the day, since the captain will work the night hours, since they require greater concentration. It will also be necessary to collaborate in the kitchen in shifts: each one will have to cook and clean the kitchen alternately.

During the rest hours we can dedicate ourselves to different activities: fishing (equipment is included; you can bring baits such as plastic squid or buy baits on board), reading, recording videos, board games (chess, backgammon, cards or dice), watching movies or series (we have a Samsung Smart TV; we recommend bringing a hard drive to connect it, although you can also connect smartphones, better Android), listen to music (we have Hi-Fi Bluetooth equipment where we can connect our mobile phones), do physical exercise or yoga.

1 review At Sailwiz since 2024
Adventurer and sailor with more than 30 years of experience at sea, I started as the owner of an 80-foot ketch-type schooner made entirely of wood, and after many years with classic boats, I changed rigs to sailboats and catamarans. I am passionate about sailing, fishing and diving.

Boat details

Welcome everyone to the announcement of a fabulous Lagoon 43 catamaran.

The Lagoon 43 represents the promise of unforgettable moments at sea because it is a catamaran adaptable to all desires. As a couple, with family or with friends, this catamaran will seduce you. It was designed and created to be versatile, by nature!

The boat is a luxury and at the same time contemporary catamaran that has cabinetry finishes and great comfort in all its cabins.

Lagoon has created a new vision of life on board, presenting a versatile ship with adaptable limits. This advance makes it possible to transform the space by relating the interior to the exterior according to your wishes, between the living room and the bathtub.

The operation is simple and quick to create numerous layouts, allowing for up to 12 people

around the table. A new space for meeting and exchange has been invented, to share with family or friends

The catamaran is equipped for ocean navigation since it crosses the Atlantic from Ibiza to Martinique and... with its final destination the Virgin Islands (BVI).

It is a sustainable ECO catamaran, equipped with solar panels to minimize diesel consumption.

On
board you will find ample comfort, especially provided by catamarans due to their spaciousness and good design.

The boat has large refrigerators, and an ice machine to keep all your drinks very cold. You will also find an outdoor barbecue where you can cook good fish or good meat.

Our goal is for them to enjoy an unforgettable and eco-sustainable vacation, for which we recommend the maximum use of sailing possible.

We will visit the most wonderful places, the most crystalline coves and enjoy magnificent sunrises and sunsets on board.

More than half of the trip was by motor. He has two skippers for the trip, we were two travelers for expenses. Travel expenses to be added, as stated in the publication, fuel costs; it was 500 euros each; cleaning 150 each; STARLINK, 150 each; and food 600 each. The fantastic patterns. Very comfortable
