THE RULE
The Andalusian coast, with its modern marinas and diverse offerings, is perfect for a week of maintenance and repairs. Málaga and Motril provide excellent infrastructure for all onboard work, spare parts, and service. The route between the two cities is ideal for testing the boat under sail and carrying out final checks before the long crossing.
Week & Schedule
Our adventure begins in Málaga. After boarding and a thorough briefing, we get to work: inspecting the rigging, sails, engine, electrics, safety equipment, pumps, navigation systems, and much more. You'll learn how to plan maintenance, check spare parts, and identify or fix technical problems. Anyone who wants to can get involved in all areas – from changing the oil to testing all onboard systems.
In between, we'll sail to Motril, test the systems underway, and enjoy the Spanish coast. In Motril, there will be time for shore excursions, day trips, or simply enjoying crew life in the harbor. After completing the work and checks, we'll sail back to Málaga, where we'll end the week together.
Of course, you can also join us for part of the time!
Knowledge & Practice
This week is ideal for anyone wanting to learn more about yacht technology, maintenance, and preparation for long voyages. You'll gain practical insights into all onboard systems, have the opportunity to get hands-on experience, and ask questions. Our team will explain the procedures, offer tips, and share their extensive experience from many years of bluewater sailing.
WIND & CLIMATE
In May, the southern Andalusian coast reveals its mild side. In Málaga and Almeria, you can expect pleasant daytime temperatures between 18 and 23 °C, with nighttime lows rarely dropping below 14 °C. The sun shines for an average of 6 to 7 hours per day, and extended periods of rain are rare – short showers are possible but usually pass quickly.
The winds blow predominantly from westerly to southerly directions at 2–4 Beaufort (6–16 knots) and provide pleasant conditions for sailing and working on deck – ideal for technical checks on the hull or a jump into the sea.
